Walt Disney World Allergy-Friendly Recipes

Team SunButter

The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida has a reputation for being one of the top food allergy-friendly destinations in the world. With Disney chefs on hand to assist guests with food allergy questions to dedicated allergy-friendly menus in most of the restaurants on Disney property, it’s pretty easy to see why Disney World is a magical place for guests who have food allergies. Even better, Disney offers guests with food allergies unique and often hard to find favorites like allergy-friendly Mickey waffles for breakfast or allergy-friendly popcorn as a snack.

Even though I live close to the magic, sometimes I like to recreate my Disney favorites at home. Here are some recipes to recreate some popular Disney gluten free dishes that have been adapted to be allergy-friendly, replacing traditional peanut butter with SunButter.

SunButter (PB) & Jelly Milkshake from 50’s Prime Time Café

50’s Prime Time Café is a restaurant located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park. Inspired by “mom’s kitchen,” 50’s Prime Time Café serves up classic fare from the 1950s including milkshakes like the Peanut Butter & Jelly Milkshake. I’ve made this allergy-friendly by replacing the traditional peanut butter with SunButter and adding non-dairy alternatives. Recipe yields – 1 serving.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons SunButter
2 tablespoons grape jelly
2 cups of vanilla non-dairy ice cream
1/4 cup of non-dairy milk

Directions:
1. Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.
2. Place in glass and top with whipped topping and a maraschino cherry.

No Way Jose Sundae from Beaches & Cream Soda Shop

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, located at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, is another retro-inspired classic diner, with sundaes, milkshakes, and burgers. The No Way Jose Sundae is extremely popular among Disney guests and makes for the perfect summer sundae. Make it allergy-friendly by replacing the peanut sauce with SunButter and swapping out the dairy ice cream with its equally delicious non-dairy counterpart.

Ingredients:
2-3 scoops of vanilla non-dairy ice cream
2-3 scoops of chocolate non-dairy ice cream
1/4 cup of SunButter sauce – SunButter sauce can be made by heating up SunButter and a few tablespoons of non-dairy milk
1/4 cup of non-dairy chocolate syrup
1-2 tablespoons of non-dairy chocolate chips
Non-dairy whipped topping

Directions:
1. Coat bottom of ice cream dish with a spoon of chocolate syrup and SunButter sauce.
2. Add ice cream to dish and top with remaining chocolate syrup and SunButter sauce.
3. Top with whipped topping and sprinkle chocolate chips on top of whipped topping. Enjoy!
